Julian Fences – Mountain Retreat by Dukley, Kolašin
Minimalism with a view – new-generation Julian balconies
On the Mountain Retreat by Dukley project in Kolašin (Montenegro), the company Metals-Weld was commissioned to manufacture and install Julian glass railings on the mountain villas featuring large panoramic openings.
In high-end architecture, Julian glass railings have become a distinctive feature that combines minimalism, safety, and visual freedom. Unlike traditional balconies with an exit platform, a Julian balcony is defined by a glass barrier placed directly in front of large window openings—taking up no space while delivering maximum visual impact.
Why choose Julian glass railings?
Instead of bulky structures, frameless glass railings allow the view to flow seamlessly through the façade. This makes them ideal for buildings where the landscape is as important as the architecture—they complement nature rather than interrupt it.
At the Mountain Retreat by Dukley project, Julian glass railings were installed on all villas. In an environment where every line is reduced to its essence, the glass barrier becomes an almost invisible architectural element—present only when safety is required, yet absent when it comes to aesthetics.
Advantages of this system:
Minimal impact on the façade, perfectly blending with wood and stone
Panoramic effect with no barriers in the line of sight
Seamless connection between the interior and the mountain landscape
Absolute safety with complete aesthetic purity
Enhanced sense of space and a luxurious ambiance
In the era of contemporary design, transparent glass railings on Julian balconies represent a subtle luxury—present just enough to ensure safety, but not to dictate the visual identity of the building. On projects like Mountain Retreat by Dukley, they are not merely a technical element; they frame the landscape, guide the view, and serve as a signature of modern design.
